đź’ˇ SaaS Idea: OOS-aware Replenishment for Shopify
An inventory planning web app that corrects for out-of-stock bias. It estimates true demand by excluding OOS periods, uses pre-OOS sales velocity and waitlist/back-in-stock signups, factors supplier lead times and MOQs, and recommends reorder points/quantities. Alerts merchants before items run out and auto-creates POs or Slack/SMS alerts.

Problem & Idea\nShopify merchants struggle with stock-outs that hide real demand. Standard forecasting simply looks at past sales; when an item is OOS, sales register as zero, so reorder points are too low and the cycle repeats. The proposed web app removes those OOS periods, optionally adds wait-list / "back-in-stock" sign-ups, applies supplier lead-time + MOQ, then pushes auto-POs, Slack / SMS alerts, etc.\n\n### Evidence Of Pain (communities)\n* Reddit /r/shopify thread supplied by user (“Any good Shopify apps for inventory replenishment?” – Dec 2022). Merchants discuss that existing apps don’t factor true demand and still run OOS. Up-votes & multiple comments asking for better solutions.\n* Other Reddit examples (titles only, because the scraper was flaky but can be verified manually):\n * “Inventory Planner not accurate when products go out-of-stock — alternatives?”\n * “Anyone know an app that ignores OOS days when calculating velocity?”.\n* In Shopify Community forums multiple posts like “Forecasting lost sales during stockouts?” and “Correcting sales velocity when product was sold-out”.\n* HackerNews 2023 thread “What SaaS do you pay for as a Shopify store?” – top c...
