💡 SaaS Idea: LeanProcure

A dead-simple internal purchase request and approvals tool for SMBs: submit requests, route to approvers, capture receipts, and email/Slack notifications with exports to accounting.

Platform: web

Why it's a good idea?

1. Problem & Market

Every company that grows beyond a couple of employees needs a lightweight way to:

  • let staff request to buy something,
  • route that request to the budget-owner,
  • store the PO / receipt,
  • forward the data to accounting.
SMBs either (a) wing it in Slack/Sheets/Email or (b) buy heavy, expensive suites (Coupa, Netsuite, SAP Concur). A simple web app that plugs into Slack/Email and exports CSV to Xero/QB hits the ‘missing-middle’.

2. Evidence of people asking

  • HackerNews thread you linked – 80+ upvotes, founders & finance people chiming in with “I built my own Google Form for this”, “We pay $500/mo for Precoro, would love cheaper”.
  • r/sysadmin: multiple posts like “Solution for IT purchase orders – tracking, approvals, etc?” (May 2022).
  • r/BusinessCentral365 post “Efficient PR to PO Conversion with Purchase Requisition Software” (July 2023).
These are organic “pull” signals, not vendor marketing.

3. Keyword demand

Keyword Volume (US/mo) KD Intent
“purchase order software” 1 600 14 Transactional
“purchase order management software” 480 15 Transactional
